BANNING TO DESTRUCTION.
RECONCILIATION, OR A BAN.
"Look, I will send you the prophet Elijah before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes. He will reconcile fathers to sons and sons to fathers, lest I come and put the land under a ban to destroy it." (NEB).
A spiritual work has taken place in the hearts of fathers and sons, by means of the same spirit given to the prophet Elijah of a past age. This work is for the purpose of their reconciliation to one other and more importantly to our Heavenly Father Jehovah God, before the terrible day of the Lord comes. This requires that fathers and sons are to have love and deep respect for one another, otherwise those who refuse the sent spirit of reconciliation for their change of heart will have their land and themselves banned to destruction. This could begin at any time now, and in any nation.
AN EXAMPLE OF BEING UNDER A BAN FROM GOD:
First, a mention about the word 'BAN'. The Oxford Dictionary states in its extensive etymology that it means: 'Lord, and master', also, 'The viceroy of certain districts in Hungary, Slovenia, and Croatia, who takes the command in time of war'. Hence the words BANATE and BANNAT -- and is, 'the district under the jurisdiction of a ban. To curse.'
At this point in time, the aforementioned countries of Croatia and Bosnia are providing evidence of having come under a Divine ban, of being under the torment of calamities. Brothers in these countries are now killing brothers in an all out war, to destruction! Thus proving that they have refused the sent spirit of reconciliation from God through the prophet Elijah.
A father who accepts Elijah's spirit of reconciliation with his son, in his heart, may not have it reciprocated, or the reverse may be the case. Furthermore, spirit reconciliation according to the requirements of God, and reconciliation according to the spirit of this world, is not the same.
A variety of causes have been suggested for the terrifying killings taking place among neighbours in certain countries today, but none of these make sense. The real reason for these killings is that such nations are now in the "terrible day of the Lord" because the sent spirit of reconciliation did not take root in them.
From the foregoing knowledge and example, nations should now know what to expect if God puts individual fathers and sons under a BAN (a curse) in their country for not turning their hearts toward each other in true friendship. If true friendship does not exist between fathers and sons, then all their relationships will be without a peaceful foundation.
TO SUM UP:
It should be clearly understood that the meaning of this particular banning or "devoting [of it] to destruction" by the Lord (Mal 4:6 NWT) is brought about by God placing disobedient people under a curse. This curse is not initiated by any man, but by God, after, and merely by withdrawing, His spirit of reconciliation.
