THE "GREAT EARTHQUAKE"
OF REVELATION 16:17-21.

On Wednesday December 7th 1988, three cities in Armenia fell by an earthquake so great that around 25,000 people were killed and an estimated 700,000 lost their homes. The city of Spitak was flattened. Leninakan, Stepanavan, and Kirovakan were also badly damaged.

Although at first sight this event would seem to fulfil Revelation 16:17-21, on closer examination it can be proven that this is not the case. When the seventh "trumpet" is blown, not only will it herald that "the kingdom of the world [has] become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ", but it will also herald the outpouring of the seventh "bowl". (11:15-19. 16:17). Only when the seventh "bowl" is poured out will "a great earthquake" occur, one "such as had not occurred since men came to be on the earth, so extensive an earthquake, so great. And the great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell; and Babylon the great was remembered in the sight of God to give her the cup of the wine of the anger of His wrath." (16:18,19). This scripture is a description of the spiritual "earthquake" that is appointed to take place by the Lord's Spirit of judgement within the spirits of mankind. In this coming "great earthquake" at Har-Ma.ged'on, all members of the "false prophet", the political "wild beast" and worshippers of sectarian "Babylon" will be judged and abyssed "while still alive". (16:15-21. 19:20). It is in this way that the outpouring of the seventh "bowl" of the anger of God upon Godless mankind will cause cities of their nations to fall.

THE FINAL ANGER OF GOD IS "UPON THE AIR" (16:17).
The Armenian earthquake is a similar case to the one that took place in Mexico City in 1985, in that "Babylon the great" is entrenched in both countries. (11:13. 18:1-24) (See Page 26/9/85). Indeed, Almighty God is punishing all Godless nations sinning against His chosen people by such calamities as fire, storm, sword, deluge, plague, drought, famine and earthquake. (2 Esdras Ch.15 & 16). Members of "Babylon the great, the mother of the harlots and of the disgusting things of the earth" will be held to account for "the blood of the holy ones" and "the blood of the witnesses of Jesus". (17:5,6). For their bloodguilt is the same as that of the scribes and Pharisees in the time of Christ, persecuting, scourging and killing servants of God in their nation and shutting up the Kingdom of God before men. (Read: Matt 23:1-38). Such ones will experience the final anger of God "upon the air" described as Spirit "hail", "with every stone about the weight of a talent". (16:21).

In accordance with the judgement principle of God, there can be no faithful anointed sons of God living in locations subject to calamity by fire, storm, sword, deluge, plague, drought, famine and earthquake. (See Gen 18:23-32).

All counter-activity against the God-given Spirit work of anointed sons and witnesses of God on earth, including persecution of these members of the spirit "body" of The Christ, is held to account as bloodguilt. Such guilt has both a literal and a spiritual connotation. An example of this is the fulfilment of the prophecy of the 2,300 evenings and mornings by the "disgusting thing" of unsealed 'elders' "standing in a holy place" who supplanted faithful anointed sons of God in the spiritual "land" of Christ's congregations and spiritually "killed" them. (11:7-10). It was a progressive guilt leading up to open rebellion and apostasy, and merits only disgust. (Rev 17:5,6. Matt 24:15. Dan 8:13,14).
