(Cont. from Page 8/12/82). SO WHO IS THE REAL KING OF BABYLON? QUESTIONS: The spirit creature that undertook a course of opposition and resistance to God was given the title in Hebrew: sa.tan'; [usually accompanied by the definite article ho; Gk, sa.ta.nas'; resister, adversary]. This creature "did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him." (John 8:44). One of the reasons why the Son of God Jesus Christ was made manifest on earth was to "break up the works of the devil." (1 John 3:8). One's spirit creation through The Christ is according to the perfect Will and purpose of God. Bab'y.lon [confusion] was founded by the man Nimrod. It was the first known capital of man's political empire of world tyranny, later under the control of the Assyrian world power. Ancient Babylon consisted of over fifty temples in opposition to the one true God. Magic, sorcery and astrology have played a prominent part in the false religions of Babylon. (Isaiah 47:12,13. Dan 2:27. 4:7. Jer 50:1,2,38). "Babylon the great" was described by The Christ through the apostle John in Revelation 17:5 as: "The mother of the harlots and of the disgusting things of the earth." (Rev 14:8. 16:19. 17:16. 18:10,21). Nimrod is recorded as the "father of the gods" in Babylonian religion. Those that deceive the nations are fallen angels, or demons. (2 Peter 2:4) (Rev 12:7-9). The "dragon" satan of Revelation 12:7 is the "shining one" of Isaiah 14:12, who together with his demon followers are the deceivers of all peoples of the world, including the deified kings of "Babylon the great" (See: Dan 4:30). "Babylon" is the world empire of false religious worship carried by political regimes of the symbolically described "wild beast" they admire. (Rev 13:1-17). Those with the "mark" of the political "wild beast" operate under demonic influence, organize themselves into governments by compulsion, and demonstrate their rebellion against the spirit creative work of God among His people. They use enforced economic necessity and specious arguments to drive His people to work at preoccupations designed to hinder the spirit creative process. But satanic attempts are doomed to fail, hence Jehovah's name for it: "Dragon Do‑nothing". (Isaiah 30:7 Moffatt). So to satan's ministers, prominent members of the "wild beast" it can also be said: "Is this the man (or woman) that was agitating the earth", "the one striking peoples in fury with a stroke incessantly, the one subduing nations in sheer anger with a persecution without restraint"? (Isaiah 14:16,6). Throughout the earth the following words of prophecy are now being fulfilled: |
