THE SCROLLS THAT WERE UTTERED BEFORE GOD'S
JUDGEMENTS AND CONDEMNATIONS
THE THREE SCROLLS PROCLAIMED BEFORE, AND FOR, JUDGEMENT.
The unchangeable principles from God, and the intended purpose of the minor prophecy given in a scroll for Ezekiel to "eat" (to mentally digest for prophesying thereafter) (see Ezek 2:9 to 3:3), was principally in its requirements the same as the "Little Scroll" today. Many centuries later there exists its reality for this generation, namely the "Little Scroll", of the Revelation to John. (Rev 10:8,9). This last scroll is for the same purpose: God's judgements and condemnations, or blessings, which will follow its proclamation to the nations. The scroll that was given to the people through Ezekiel was addressed only to the Jewish nation at that time as to the legal case of God against them. The principles of the "flying scroll" in Zechariah 5:1-4 are in the form of an ongoing curse, warnings sent of coming judgements upon all peoples of the nations who have made sworn oaths to God falsely, who have become thieves and perjurers in His Name, and particularly those who have apostatized.
The final "Little Scroll" is the major fulfilment (reality) of the previous two scrolls with additions, containing bitter denunciations, and briefly referred to in Revelation chapter 10. It is the final legal case of God concerning all mankind. Primarily, it is against all religious apostates (those who have sworn to God falsely); but is also addressed to all other people thereafter, in this last generation of this "Esau age" before the arrival of the new spirit age called the "Jacob age". The "Little Scroll" is also a refining work for benefit, and reveals "every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God" (2 Cor 10:5), "and it must become nothing but a reason for quaking to make others understand what has been heard". (Isaiah 28:19 NWT).
To reiterate: In principle, as it was in the minor fulfilment of the legal case of God against the Jewish nation, so it is today. But this time it is as respects all nations; that people must first be given the legal case of God in their regard through His underpriests on earth before they can be judged. Even if it is foreknown that the great majority will not listen to these instructions of God's requirements for them, His priests on earth are nevertheless advised to prophesy them "again" "with regard to peoples and nations and languages and many kings" (Rev 10:11). They are to do this for the very same purpose as those scrolls in the distant past. But now, the legal case of God is being presented in greater measure in the "Little Scroll", so that the final judgements of God can follow against ALL races of this last generation of stubborn sinners.
WHO WILL BE ABLE TO STAND AT HIS COMING? (Rev 6:17).
At God's coming, stubborn sinners will be revealed. But they will still not be able to accept His righteousness, which will then permeate everyone's life on earth. The spirit "flood" of righteousness will cause a "wasting disease" in them (Isaiah 10:22. See NEB footnote) and they will surely die. So who will be able to stand at His coming? Only a small number, those who have adjusted their lives wisely before His coming and have humbled themselves sufficiently to allow our Lord's disciplines to create in them a righteous disposition before He arrives. They are those who have by faith offered up to God clean spirit sacrifices. By this I mean, they have adjusted their spirit and deeds (their lives) according to the Spirit laws of God (as subjected spirits), until His Spirit Will has become their very way of life. These are the ones who will stand at His coming. Their past shame, persecution and humiliation from others for standing by and proclaiming His Holy Name will become their joys. Enemies will become desperate, fleeing like chaff, and will try to hide from His face. (Rev 6:16,17).
