A FURTHER EXEGESIS OF
THE FINAL "ASSYRIAN".

Jehovah uses as His "rod" a cruel nation, symbolically described as the "Assyrian", to strike a Godless or apostate nation. (Isaiah 10:5 NEB NWT). Jehovah used Nazi Germany as His "rod" against the apostate nation of the Jews during the Second World War, when around 6,000,000 of them were gathered from nations overrun by Nazis with "Assyrian" natures and killed. (10:5-7 NEB).

Those who are part of the symbolic "Assyrian" "axe" today even believe they can "enhance [themselves] over the One chopping with it" or "magnify [themselves] over the One moving it back and forth, as though the staff moved back and forth the ones raising it on high, as though the rod raised on high the One who is not wood" ! trying to magnify themselves over Almighty God and His holy angels! (10:15). For this insolence, Jehovah will "keep sending upon his fat ones a wasting disease". (10:16).

Many among the inhabitants of Iran and Iraq (modern-day "Assyria") have expressed a wish "to cut off nations not a few", and as the means of doing so have often disrupted the supply of oil. (10:7). Oil has proven to be an essential commodity for those "driving [others] to work". (14:4). Inhabitants of modern-day "Assyria" falsely claim to be worshippers of God. But they put their faith in a false prophet, Mohammed, and powerful demon angels, the Jinn. By ignoring the holy laws of God contained in His Holy Scriptures they prove to be an apostate nation, of whom very few will survive. (10:18,19).

Jehovah has described the means by which He will punish the insolent "Assyrian": "Israel's Light must become a fire, and his Holy One a flame; and it must blaze up and eat up his* weeds and his* thornbushes in one day." [the Assyrian*]. (10:17,18). All "Assyrian" glory-seekers worldwide, including those of "Assyrian"-type disposition in modern-day "Assyria", will waste away in the Spirit "fire" of God's Judgement burning within them "under [their] glory"; until these "weeds" and "thornbushes", though as great as a "forest", are destroyed. All the "fat ones" now receiving glory shall waste away with sickness at the overflowing flood of righteousness from God within them. (10:22 NEB & footnote).

The "instrument of final destruction" for the extermination of glory-seekers will reach all that have lifted up the "staff" of oppression and persecution against spiritual sons of "Jacob" in the way that Egypt did. (10:24. 14:5). Just as ancient Egypt stubbornly refused to release God's chosen people Israel until a death-dealing wasting disease from God upon them effected the release of His people from the "yoke" of Egypt, so the breaking of the mighty "Assyrian" by Almighty God is the plan prepared for the whole earth:

"The Lord of Hosts has sworn: In very truth, as I planned, so shall it be; as I designed, so shall it fall out: I will break the Assyrian in My own land and trample him underfoot upon My mountains; his yoke shall be lifted from you, his burden taken from your shoulders. This is the plan prepared for the whole earth, this the hand stretched out over all the nations. For the Lord of Hosts has prepared His plan: who shall frustrate it? His is the hand stretched out, and who shall turn it back?" (14:24-27 NEB).
