"UNDER HIS GLORY A BURNING WILL KEEP BURNING
AWAY LIKE THE BURNING OF A FIRE". (Isaiah 10:16 NWT).

People who seek glory do so through many means, but I cannot remember having met one person who has admitted to the real reason for such endeavour as being for their personal glory. Usually, glory-seekers use excuses like: "Its for personal achievement", or "for self-satisfaction", or "I give people what they want", or "I'm very ambitious". But never: "For the glory and adoration" they desire from others". (Adoration: The act of worshipping or paying divine honours).

It was glory-seeking that was manifest in the boastful words of the king of Assyria, which God described as insolence and self-importance, and loftiness of eyes. Furthermore, to this king's boast of the "power of my hand" with which he said he would: "remove the boundaries of peoples…and their things stored up I shall certainly pillage…I myself will gather up even all the earth" (Isaiah 10:13,14 NWT), God has promised to give His attention to such ones. (V 16).

Mere humans, who seek glory, do so because they have a need to feed the desires of their boastful spirit through some manufactured conquest or other. Often, I have heard it said, "It is just to be someone special". Unfortunately, this "something special" is for the sole purpose of exalting over others. The giving or the receiving of glory among humans is not fitting.

On Page 1/9/87 are listed some of the main parts of the "sturdy frame" of "Assyrian" types called "fat ones", who today are seeking glory through "harmful regulations", constantly writing out "sheer trouble" for the purpose of pushing away justice from the afflicted and lowly ones of God. (Isaiah 10:1,2,16).

In fulfilment, God says that He will keep sending under 'his' (their) glory a burning like a fire. (Isaiah 10:16). Apostates are such because of seeking self-glory (vainglory) even after coming to know God. Similarly, politicians and their admirers have this "mark" of idolatry, and extend their allotted spiritual and physical boundaries, even boasting and exalting themselves in their pride above the glory of God. The effect of God sending people an overflowing flood of righteousness will delight His own people, but will waste away any self-exalting spirit dispositions like a fire, reversing the authoritative roles of self-exalted ones of this "age" and afflicted lowly ones, by a "wasting disease". This is a strict decision from God. (Isaiah 10:16-23 NEB).
