SOME THOUGHTS ON LOVE, To unspiritual persons, such a deliberate act of blinding Paul would be deemed as a manifestation of hatred. Such ones often have ready-made anecdotes to illustrate what they believe is love. Unfortunately, their notions of love cannot save them, or help save anyone else. (Acts 9:1-22). Because of his knowledge of Paul's spirit, our Lord Jesus had the means to turn him around and bring him to his senses to obey the Will of his Creator, Almighty God. (1 Cor 13:12). The Christ temporarily blinded Paul that he might give him spiritual seeing, training him to become his apostle to the nations. Paul then began his life course of spirit sanctification, preparing him for spirit immortality in the heavenly realm of God. Spirit life in heaven is the very purpose of God respecting all humans after sanctification. (John 6:63). While such an extreme measure as Paul experienced to turn him to God is not required by many who begin walking in a "newness of life" in subjection to God, we all need to be made aware of the futility of living life without obedience to the Supreme Spirit and Creator, God. (Rom 6:4). Whatever one's age or experience, without His Spirit readjustment, one would only have this life, with no fixed abode after death. (2 Esdras 7:79,80 NEB). Generally speaking, people are able to tolerate remarks about their physical appearance, but quickly rise up in anger when references are made to their inferior spirit condition. Further, if even the imposition of an affliction upon a man fails to induce him to fulfil his obligations to God, what course is left open but that his life is terminated? (2 Esdras 16:19,20 NEB). As to the showing of mercy to such ones, mercy must have its work complete, toward a worthwhile conclusion. Otherwise, it would not be mercy, but an allowance for further sin. (See Jude V.4). For one's spirit to feel secure in the peaceful and harmonious bliss that is everlasting life in the spirit heavens, one's spirit has to be cleansed. This is sanctification. And this is achieved through one's daily obedience to the Word of God. (Heb 12:14). 26/4/94. |
