THE SYMBOLIC MEANINGS OF THE EXPIATION
OF THE SINS OF "JACOB". (From Isaiah 27:6-13 RSV).
"IN DAYS TO COME JACOB SHALL TAKE ROOT".
The understanding is firstly that "Jacob" represents all the spiritual lives of God's people remaining on earth, and of literal Israel the ungathered nation of Jews remaining before they begin to "blossom" from the "root" of "Jacob". The important question then, is: When and how did God expiate the guilt of "Jacob"; meaning, for the last of "Jacob"-type people of God? I say last, because of Isaiah's prophetic reference to it as being the "full fruit of the removal of his sin" (see verse 9) and all at the same time.
"IN THE DAY OF THE EAST WIND".
When the very moment in time arrives for "Jacob" types to experience the unusual sign from our Lord of a fierce blast "in the day of the east wind", it means to experience the final act of expiation for our sins, since the former forgiveness of the sins we were guilty of took place at our baptism. This expiation is described as the "full fruit" (of forgiveness. V.9). It also indicates that all except Jews in Assyria and Egypt have been gathered in to God. When these latter ones are gathered, then all will worship in Jerusalem; spirit sons of "Jacob", both Jews and Gentiles. The Jews will yet be gathered in "one by one" (V.12).
The method that God adopts is described as: "Measure by measure, by exile thou didst contend with them" (V.8), "feeding" and testing us "measure by measure". The word 'exile' means: Enforced removal from one's native land, banishment, prolonged voluntary absence from one's native land, etc. (See Oxford Dictionary). In the spiritual context, this means that God brought about measures that would remove the people of "Jacob" from their spiritual "land" and place us in the "wilderness" condition referred to in Revelation 12:6. It was where further corrective measures of "feeding" took place to expiate our sins, namely to adjust to the communicated refinements of the "Little Scroll".
Of the ungathered Jews of literal Israel, in Assyria and Egypt, it says they will be gathered "one by one". (V.12,13). Firstly, and of necessity, "Jacob shall take root". Then, "Israel shall blossom and put forth shoots" (V.6) (from, of course, Jacob's "root"). Our taking "root" is a new beginning of growth after our term in exile (in a "wilderness" condition), where we were spiritually cleansed (sanctified) by means of the refinements of the "Little Scroll" for further and final forgiveness of our sins. The "trumpet" that will be blown in that day, of gathering in the Jews "one by one", will I believe be the "seventh trumpet" spoken of in Revelation heralding the commencement of the rule of God.
The fulfilment of the city being left solitary was because the "disgusting thing" usurped anointed members of the "altar". Women of the "disgusting thing" lacked discernment, and lit "fires" with the "boughs" of new knowledge that came through God's anointed ones; "boughs" which they allowed to become dry in their regard, disposing of them. As for the Jewish people, to this day they still bow their backs before a pile of ancient temple ruins (at their altar) and shake incense about at their other temples.
