(Cont. from Page 885B). 885C. THE SHADOW: Elijah asks the people: "How long will you be limping upon two different opinions? If Jehovah is the true God, go following Him; but if baal is, go following him." The people did not answer him. Elijah went on, "I myself have been left as a prophet of Jehovah, I alone". (1 Kings 18:21,22). Under test, the false prophets of baal began "calling upon the name of baal" and "cutting themselves" with "daggers and with lances, until they caused blood to flow out upon them" (V.26,28), in absolute deathly stubbornness.THE REALITY: The people were neither wholesouled in worshipping Jehovah, or in their opinions of baal. Those with the spirit of Elijah know that people will only stop trusting in the fallacious beliefs of false prophets by a glorious display of God's power; resulting in the deaths of these self-appointed prophets. Only when people feel the power of God will they know He is the One True God. (18:38,39). Only then, during the great and fear-inspiring day of Jehovah (Mal 4:5) will the "Elijah" class tell the people: "Seize the prophets of baal!" (18:40). But until that great day, and the coming "downpour" (18:45) "Ahab"-types refuse to relinquish their so-called authority among the people. (Zech 12:10-14).
That coming "Day"
will inspire fear in all men. (See Page 874). It is
an event we await with eager expectation, when the spirit of favour and
entreaty and bitter grief is poured out from God on all people, at the
same time. Those who have already grieved over the death of God's Firstborn
Son Jesus Christ cannot grieve over his death again. So they will be left with a
spirit of favour and entreaty. Without the "green grass" of new life-giving
waters (teachings), those guilty of baal worship will feel "dried out" in
spirit, their spirits corrupted by their own sins, "fouling" the spirit "waters"
of God by publishing and teaching lies and twisting God's Word. (Ezek 34:17-19).
It is a sweet delight to administer the denunciations of God upon due
recipients. It bears witness to us of our place before Almighty God. IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER: (1) To eradicate false prophets, God Himself annihilates them.(2) Obadiah and Ahab went/had different "ways" of looking for "green grass".(3) When Obadiah said, "Is this you, my lord", he was really asking, 'Is the Word of God in your mouth, Elijah? If so, you are the "green grass" we are looking for, but have so far rejected.'(4) The "sticks" the widow was gathering represented past teachings already known, to prepare their last "meal"; after which she would have died, having run out of spirit nourishment.(5) "Obadiah" types serve in both camps, and are not wholesouled to Jehovah. They are a class of persons who do not promote the warring nature of "Jezebel"-type activities.(6) These true teachings of God's Word are exposing false prophets.Seize them! Put their false prophesying to death! 18/10/82. |
