874. WILL YOU EXPERIENCE THE COMING |
||||
|
ARE YOU TO RECEIVE "THE SPIRIT OF YEARNING It is a relief to know that this spirit will not include families that have not come against spiritual "Jerusalem". David's house is of earthly Jerusalem and will receive this spirit of grief. How will this be so? This "Jerusalem" are heavenly "Jerusalem", whom the Jews do not acknowledge. Nor do they acknowledge the past coming on earth of The Christ in the flesh as God's Firstborn Son, or the sayings of his spirit. Do you? And so they did not grieve over him as an only Son of God at that time, and are still waiting for him. So they are included in, and will receive, the fulfilment of this spirit of bitter grief. Will you? (Heavenly "Jerusalem": See Hebrews 12:22-29). An interesting point emerges. In the book of Malachi it conveys that Jehovah will devote to destruction all who do not acknowledge those today that have Elijah's spirit and power. John the Baptist prepared people spiritually for the coming of Christ on earth, through their repentance. But the majority of the Jews did not recognise John the Baptist's work as preparing the way for Christ. But after John's death Elijah and Moses appeared in transfiguration with Christ●, indicating a future work similar to what the prophet Elijah had done. Therefore, anointed servants with Elijah's spirit and power are as ambassadors substituting for Christt, and are the "least" of his brothers engaged in the work of turning "the heart of fathers back toward sons, and the heart of sons back toward fathers" (to "reconcile" them. Moffatt), "before the coming of the great and fear‑inspiring day of Jehovah". "THEY SHALL LOOK AT HIM WHOM THEY STABBED"? "BITTER AS A MAN'S GRIEF FOR A FIRSTBORN CHILD"? (Michael: Christ's heavenly name. Meaning: 'Who Is like God?') |
"On that day I will set myself to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem,
but I will pour out a spirit of yearning and entreaty upon David's house and the dwellers in Jerusalem;
they shall look at him whom they stabbed and lament for him bitterly, as a man laments for his only son; bitter shall be their grief for him, as
bitter as a man' s grief for his first-born child. On that day the lamenting in Jerusalem shall be as mournful as the lamenting for Hadadrimmon in the valley of Megiddo; the land shall lament, each family by itself, the family of David's house apart and their wives apart…
and all the other families who are left, each apart and their wives apart. "Look! I am sending to you Elijah the prophet
before the coming of the great and fear-inspiring day of Jehovah. And he must turn the heart of fathers back toward sons, and the heart of sons back toward fathers; in order that I may not come and actually strike the earth with a devoting of it to destruction". "And then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in lamentation, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory". (Matthew 24:30). "It is the spirit that is life-giving; the flesh is of no use at all. The sayings that I have spoken to you are spirit and are life". (John 6:63 NWT).
