"And there must stand up in his position one who is to be despised, and they will certainly not set upon him the dignity of the kingdom; and he will actually come in during a freedom from care and take hold of the kingdom by means of smoothness. And as regards the arms of the flood, they will be flooded over on account of him, and they will be broken; as will also the Leader of the covenant." (Dan 11:21,22 New World Translation).

"A contemptible creature will succeed but will not be given recognition as king; yet he will seize the kingdom by dissimulation and intrigue in time of peace. He will sweep away all forms of opposition as he advances, and even the Prince of the Covenant will be broken."

"In place of him a despicable creature will arise, one on whom the royal honour is not conferred but who comes when men are off their guard and gains the kingdom by means of crafty promises; the opposing forces shall be swept away before him and shattered, and so shall God's high priest." Gains control of the "kingdom" (though not appointed by God), by means of covenant-leavers in Christ's congregations. (Dan 11:30-32).

King of the North becomes the authority by smooth promises, distributing land at a price.

With satan's power apostates promise positions of authority to unsealed men within Christ's congregations, distributing spiritual "land" at a price. (Dan 11:39). They become their "intense lovers" and "bride" and "foreign god". (Mal 2:11).

The dictator Ayatollah Khomeini* is a physical counterpart of the king of the North via satan. Dissimulations, particularly in countries like Ethiopia, are prophesied to take place in fulfilment of Daniel 11:43.

More important is the identity of satan's opposing forces through his human subjects that "shattered" the work of God's high priest Michael the Archangel, and who gained control of his "kingdom" by means of smoothness (Dissimulation: pretending not to have or feel) and crafty promises, and by whose opposition the Prince of the Covenant was broken. But too late! The 144,000 approved anointed kings of the "kingdom" have already been gathered after the 1,335 days! Both the physical and the spiritual manifestations of satan through his people on earth have proven ineffective! (Dan 12:11,12).

Although he* is referred to as "one who is to be despised", the spiritual counterpart of satan's work today is referred to as "the disgusting thing" "standing in a holy place" (Matt 24:15) (Daniel 11:32,33): "one" despised. These self-recommended 'elders' are not permitted to usurp the "dignity of the kingdom" from God's heavenly "woman". The dignity of the holy place of His sanctuary rightfully belongs to "temple" slaves of God anointed with His Spirit. But those responsible for removing these are guilty of the abomination, the disgusting thing causing desolation, within and among themselves. (Dan 9:27b).

At this juncture, it is fitting to make known the reward for such contempt of Jehovah God: "But now to speak of death: when the Most High has given final sentence for a man to die, the spirit leaves the body to return to the One who gave it, and first of all to adore the glory of the Most High. But as for those who have rejected the ways of the Most High and despised His law, and who hate all that fear God, their spirits enter no settled abode, but roam thenceforward in torment, grief, and sorrow…"
