WHAT IS: THE DISGUSTING THING? (Dan 12:11 NWT).
THE SACRILEGIOUS ABOMINATION? (Dan 9:27 Moffatt).

THE ABOMINATION.
Moffatt's translation describes this abomination as a sacrilegious abomination. The Oxford Dictionary provides the meaning of Sacrilege: Robbery or profanation of sacred building, outrage on consecrated person or thing, violation of what is sacred.

The outrage was against consecrated sons of God anointed with His Spirit, those who are the "temple" building of God (1 Cor 3:16,17); until "finally the appointed doom falls upon the sacrilegious abomination". (Dan 9:27 Moffatt). Concerning their doom Daniel 8:19 says: "Here I am causing you to know what will occur in the final part of the denunciation, because it is for the appointed time of the end." (NWT). Further, these denunciations of Daniel 9:27 that "will go pouring out", are through messengers of God.

And these denunciations "will go pouring out" "until an extermination" upon "the one causing desolation". (Dan 9:27). The ones causing desolation between God and men are those who removed and those who allowed the removal of anointed sons of God worshipping faithfully at the altar. Such anointed ones are the holy place on earth wherein God dwells in Spirit, but who were removed for obeying the commandments of God. (Rev 12:17). These commandments are spiritual, from our Lord Jesus, such as those given to "all the congregations of the holy ones" in 1 Corinthians 14:33-37 concerning women. But those on the "wing of disgusting things" choose to ignore these commands of our Lord (1 Cor 14:38), causing the "daughter of womankind" ruin. (Dan 11:17). These are disobedient "sons" of Daniel's people, described as "sons of robbers" (Dan 11:14), who, while officiating as 'priests', implement unscriptural teachings that promote "Jezebel"-type women in congregations throughout the world; and these women, in turn, falsely present themselves as living examples of holy women.

In the book of Daniel it says: "Wild spirits among your own nations shall start up to fulfil the prediction of the vision only to be routed." (Dan 11:14 Moffatt). Their "vision" was their prediction that the "seven times" of Daniel 4:16 were prophetic and meant a period of 360 x "seven times" = 2,520 years, the termination of which would begin Christ's rule over the earth in the autumn of 1914 CE. (See JW book: 'True Peace and Security-From What Source?' Pg.75, 76). But these robbers have stumbled in their wild unrestrained predictions in an effort to promote themselves as the 'Kingdom' since 1914. They also predicted that the "3½ times" (given to Daniel, not Nebuchadnezzar, and entirely separate in meaning and time of fulfilment) were linked with the "seven times", and published this 'link' years before the 'time of the end' they erroneously predicted. But in Daniel 12:9 it clearly states: "the words are made secret and sealed up until the time of the end", which of course is the last literal year ("time") of satan's Gentile domination and authority over faithful anointed sons of God (spiritual "Israelites").

Concerning the 'source' of their false teaching (the footnote of Daniel 9:24 in the Large Print Edition of the New World Translation), that the Jewish Mishnah mentions a "week of years": Natural Jews who do not believe in the Son of God could not accurately know the meaning of prophecies in the Holy Scriptures while their sensibilities are "blunted …to this very day". (Rom 11:7,8). This is because of their not believing in the Messiah Christ Jesus as having already come in the flesh. (Matt 15:14).

It was not given to Daniel to understand the vision for the "time of the end". (Dan 12:9). The first vision in order of fulfilment in the book of Daniel was given to Nebuchadnezzar, the last vision that was given to Daniel concerning the "time of the end" (which he did not understand) has been revealed to those today with spiritual insight. (Dan 12:10). The "disgusting thing" are those who attempted to violate Spirit anointed sons of God. The "sacrilegious abomination" is the kind of violation carried on by those of the "disgusting thing".
