The reason why wicked ones (especially those acting wickedly against the holy covenant) will not understand the true meanings and fulfilments of the prophecies given through Daniel, is that they:

(1) Instinctively will not accept denunciations for correction of them personally, and will try to
     explain them away with false self-consoling reasoning.

(2) Are therefore not given insight into the literal and spiritual fulfilments as to times, locations,
      and peoples.

DANIEL 11:30-35: The Anglo-American powers are symbolized by the ships of Kit'tim, whose powerful opposition dispirited satan's plan of worldwide government by dictatorship to prevent the ingathering of Jehovah's Kingdom heirs residing in many parts of the earth. And he (satan) will "actually go back", meaning at a future time, to hurl denunciations (prophesy vengeance) against the holy covenant and act effectively. For satan to "give consideration to those leaving the holy covenant", he must have won over some that had been anointed with God's Spirit, but who then apostatized.

As to the clergy, such religions as (for example) the Roman Catholic hierarchy were never under a covenant agreement with God. The deception that satan brought about with those "leaving the holy covenant" was by acting wickedly, initially "by means of (his) smooth words". (See Page 840: "Arms"). Such ones also attempt to join with faithful anointed persons by means of smoothness (flattery). (V.34,35).

The "constant feature" that is removed are God's anointed sons with His Holy Spirit. These sons are members of His Spirit "Israel", and carry His Spirit through His anointing of them with a portion of this Spirit. They are His "sanctuary" class on earth in whom He dwells. Acceptable offerings to God by the people can only be achieved by obedience to all of God's instructions and teachings; the "tenth parts" made known to these faithful anointed sons of God. Those remaining of the total number of 144,000 are all His underpriests. (1 Peter 2:9. Eph 2:22)
(1 John 2:27. 1 Cor 7:17-24).

The fulfilment of the "disgusting thing that is causing desolation" (NWT), an "appalling abomination erected" (Moffatt), was the setting up of unsealed men in Christ's congregations, men who had not been anointed with a portion of God's Spirit, but who acted in their place as priests of God over His peoples in His congregations. (Rev 3:9). This usurpation, without God's Spirit, causes desolation in all respects. God's disgust of them, by this demonstration of theirs against His Spirit sons, will cause them to come, with their father (satan), to their complete end. (Dan 11:45). Because of these and their apostate teachings, faithful ones continued to obey their God and were made to "stumble" out from among these apostates. But from our position in a spiritual "wilderness" we prevailed and acted effectively in our service to God, and through our God-given insight began to refine out false teachings belonging to deluded followers of apostates, doing a cleansing and whitening work until the "time of the end".

(V.36): This "king" is the (type) god that effectively imposes the will of satan, whom he (satan) has developed more in power than all others of his earthly gods, and through whom he magnifies himself among earthly peoples, promoting his system of rulership; even hurling denunciations against the holy covenant of God for a heavenly Kingdom by Christ and his brothers    a future 1,000 year period. (Rev 5:10. 20:4). The "thing decided upon" was and still is the final refining of His peoples to Godly obedience, who with the approved remaining anointed ones will conquer all of satan's denunciations by their faithfulness. We worship Jehovah God as King in our hearts, by our knowledge of Him and through the manifestation of His Christ. The refining work has been during this period of satan's earthly rule, which he has cruelly forced upon peoples through many of his promoted kings with various names. But satan has now come to his use of his last one, the "king of the North", and is now being forced by God to make these people of satan fully manifest, putting: "hooks in your (and their) jaws"; the jaws of all disobedient ones over all the earth. (Ezek 38:4).
