666J. " OUTSIDE ARE THE DOGS AND THOSE WHO PRACTICE SPIRITISMAND THE FORNICATORS AND THE MURDERERS AND THE IDOLATERS AND EVERYONE LIKING AND CARRYING ON A LIE". (Revelation 22:15). Why did our Lord convey this condemnatory fact, and in such a way? And "outside" where, do you think, are these people whom he values as "dogs"? Revelation 22:14 clearly explains that they are "outside" of the "authority" to go to the "trees of life", and are therefore unable to "gain entrance (finally) into the City by its gates". This means that dog-like peoples are informed of their future beforehand, and even now are only allowed life in this system, which The Christ refers to as "darkness". (Col 1:12,13). The book of Revelation contains information about the time of the end of this system. (Rev 1:10). Therefore, instead of being overconfident, everyone should wisely evaluate their present life and equate what differences there are from those of a "dog": (i.e.) from the standpoint of God. Whether, for example, one practices spiritism, fornication, murder, idolatry, and liking and carrying on a lie -- bearing in mind that a dog eats, drinks, sleeps and has senses and a disposition. One should reason out these things by the wisdom and measurements already written down by inspiration from God: The only One who is able to give such authority and who knows how people can make the necessary changes needed to obtain the authority that wisdom gives. The "City" is the coming heavenly government over His people surviving on earth, so that they are helped by His government to inherit heavenly life. HIS MEASUREMENTS OF THOSE VALUED AS DOGS (Their practices): SPIRITISM: The belief or doctrine that the spirits of the human dead, surviving the death of the physical body, can communicate with the living especially through a person (a medium) particularly susceptible to their influence (by 'sorcery', 'witchcraft'). Since the dead "are conscious of nothing at all" (Eccles 9:5) communication with such dead persons is impossible, and God forbade it (Lev 19:31. Lev 20:6,27. Deut 18:9-12). Magical arts are also forbidden (Acts 19:19), along with false religions and their spiritistic practices. (Rev 18:23). FORNICATION: Sexual relations by mutual agreement between two persons not married to each other, committed by single or married persons (adultery), which is also idolatry. Likewise, Christians in a dedicated relationship to God or professing such relationship who prove unfaithful, by engaging in false worship or being friends of the world, are called adulteresses. MURDER: The taking of a life, unlawfully. Murders issue forth from the heart of an individual. (Matt 15:19. Mark 7:21. Rom 1:28-32). Therefore anyone hating his brother would be a murderer or manslayer. (1 John 3:15). Further it says in James 5:1-6, "you have condemned, you have murdered the righteous one. Is he not opposing you?" (speaking of men and their so-called riches). LIKING AND CARRYING ON A LIE: The opposite of truth. Lying generally involves saying something false to a person who is entitled to know the truth, and doing so with the intent to deceive or to injure him or another person. A lie need not always be verbal. It can also be expressed in action(s); that is, a person may be living a lie, especially religious lies. (Matt 23:15). God allows an operation of error to go to persons who after knowing the truth choose unrighteousness, "that they may get to believing the lie". This, rather than the good news about Christ and his teachings. (2 Thess 2:9-12). Remember also Jesus' words in John 6:63: "It is the spirit that is life-giving; the flesh is of no use at all". IDOL, IDOLATRY: An idol is an image, representation of anything, or a symbol that is of passionate devotion, whether material or imagined. Generally speaking, idolatry is the veneration, love, worship or adoration of an idol. It is usually practiced to a real or supposed higher power, whether such power is believed to have animate existence (as a human or animal god or an organisation) or whether it is inanimate (as a force or lifeless object of nature). Idolatry generally involves some form, ceremony or ritual. (See Pages 864A, 864B and 862 exposing the "wild beast" and its "image" and the "disgusting thing"). 12/8/80. |
